Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) | Contract Opportunity

Melbourne (Preferred) | Hybrid Working | Initial 6-Month Contract | Immediate Start Available

We are partnering with a leading enterprise organisation undertaking a significant technology transformation and are seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to join their team on a contract basis.

While the role offers hybrid flexibility, our client is ideally seeking a Melbourne-based consultant who can collaborate closely with local stakeholders and project teams when required.

This is an excellent opportunity to work within a complex enterprise environment, supporting critical Oracle platforms while contributing to ongoing optimisation, resilience, and modernisation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer, monitor and maintain Oracle database environments across development, test, and production.
  • Perform database installation, configuration, upgrades, patching and migrations.
  • Manage backup and recovery processes using RMAN and Oracle recovery tools.
  • Monitor database performance and implement tuning and optimisation strategies.
  • Support high availability and disaster recovery solutions including Oracle Data Guard.
  • Maintain database security, user access controls and compliance standards.
  • Investigate and resolve database incidents, outages and performance bottlenecks.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, application and project teams to support business-critical initiatives.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as an Oracle DBA within large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Oracle Database 12c, 19c and/or 21c.
  • Demonstrated expertise across:
    • Oracle RAC
    • Oracle Data Guard
    • RMAN
    • ASM (Automatic Storage Management)
    • Database performance tuning and optimisation
  • Experience performing database upgrades, migrations and patching activities.
  • Strong understanding of backup, recovery and disaster recovery practices.
  • Experience supporting Oracle databases on Linux platforms.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical and stakeholder engagement skills.

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
  • Experience supporting Exadata environments.
  • Scripting and automation experience using Shell, Python or Ansible.
  • Experience within utilities, financial services, government or other complex regulated environments.
