Job Description:

Azure AI Engineer

Are you an AI Engineer who loves building rather than talking about building?

We're partnering with a major organisation in the Energy sector embarking on a significant AI transformation program that will see AI embedded across business operations, customer services, and internal processes.

This is a rare opportunity to join a dedicated AI delivery team focused on rapidly designing, building, testing, and deploying real-world AI use cases. You'll work alongside like-minded engineers in a fast-paced environment where the focus is on experimentation, delivery, and measurable outcomes—not endless PowerPoint presentations.

If you're excited by Generative AI, Agentic AI, automation, and solving complex business challenges, we'd love to hear from you.

The Opportunity

As an Azure AI Engineer, you'll play a hands-on role in developing and deploying AI solutions that drive innovation across a large-scale energy business.

You'll be involved in:

  • Designing and building AI agents and workflows using Azure AI Foundry
  • Developing reusable, modular AI solutions that can be leveraged across multiple use cases
  • Creating orchestration frameworks and agent-to-agent interactions
  • Building workflow automation using Azure Logic Apps, Durable Workflows, and Power Automate
  • Implementing governance, guardrails, evaluation frameworks, and testing processes
  • Supporting red teaming and AI safety initiatives
  • Working closely with business stakeholders to rapidly turn ideas into working AI solutions
  • Contributing to a growing AI capability that will deliver dozens of AI use cases over the life of the program

What We're Looking For

We're not looking for highly senior AI Architects.

Instead, we're seeking hands-on engineers who enjoy building, experimenting, and delivering outcomes.

You will ideally bring:

  • Around 4-5 years of software engineering experience
  • Approximately 2 years of hands-on AI development experience
  • Experience working with Azure AI services and modern AI development practices
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • A passion for learning and applying emerging AI technologies
  • Experience working in agile or sprint-based delivery environments

Technical Experience

Experience with some or most of the following:

  • Azure AI Foundry
    • AI Agents
    • Agent orchestration
    • Governance and guardrails
  • Autogen Framework (Microsoft) or similar agentic AI frameworks
  • Databricks (highly desirable)
  • Azure Logic Apps
  • Durable Workflows
  • Power Automate
  • AI evaluation frameworks including TEVV (Test, Evaluate, Verify, Validate)
  • AI red teaming and model validation practices
  • GitHub Copilot
  • Reusable and modular AI architecture patterns

Why Join?

  • Be part of one of the most exciting AI programs currently being delivered in Australia
  • Work on real-world AI solutions rather than proof-of-concepts that never reach production
  • Gain exposure to cutting-edge Agentic AI technologies
  • Join a collaborative team of engineers focused on delivery and innovation
  • Contribute to transforming how a major energy organisation operates
  • Long-term program stability with a 24-month roadmap

What's On Offer?

  • Up to $100,000 package including superannuation
  • Sydney-based hybrid environment
  • Opportunity to build highly sought-after Azure AI and Agentic AI experience
  • Exposure to enterprise-scale AI transformation initiatives

If you're an engineer who prefers building AI solutions over talking about them and wants to be part of a team delivering AI at scale, we'd love to hear from you.
